Home is Where My Books Are

People ask me all the time what books I read. When I tell them I read Young Adult Literature, I almost always get the response, "You read what?" So I list off the other names its known by: Juvenile Literature,Teen Lit, and Books for Kids. Some where along in the rest of the conversation, I'm always asked what books and authors I can recommend. So, for your sake, (and mine!) I decided to dedicate a blog to the subject, to keep a formal record. Three of my sisters also love this genre, so I'll list their recommendations as well.

For this first post, I'll focus on the author who started it all for me: Robin McKinley.
I was given Robin's book, Beauty, by a doctor friend when I was about 13 or 14 years old and going through a tough stage in my life. I fell in love with it. I literally read the book to pieces. The book is a retelling of the Beauty and The Beast story, and was the beginning of my love of fairy tale retellings.

Some of the other books by Robin McKinley that I've read:
The Blue Sword
The Hero and the Crown
The Outlaws of Sherwood
Dragonhaven
Chalice
Spindle's End
Rose Daughter

I've included a link to Robin McKinley's website to the right.

Happy Reading!
